SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting
  • Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform heavy physical work
  • Able to climb stairs frequently during the day
  • Ability to perform heavy physical work; able to lift 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 90 lbs and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be innovative when solving problems
  • Ability to travel between multiple campuses as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of Grade twelve
  • Related trades certificate a strong asset
  • Experience with 3D printing and advanced manufacturing skills
  • Experience working with CAD software
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to operate a forklift and expected to obtain relevant forklift training if not already certified
  • Experience in machining, plumbing, electrical, welding, and/or automotive service trades would be an asset
  • Equivalencies may be considered
    Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
    Remuneration: $48,257.04 - $60,364.46 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Maintenance Service Worker II).
    This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.

Responsibilities:

  • Duties will include but are not limited to material handling and distribution, stocking inventory
  • Maintaining security of shop/lab and supplies
  • Fabricating specialized items that may involve the use of skills such as woodworking tools and electrical
  • Operating and monitoring numerous types of mechanical equipment used in the preparation of materials for shops and labs (e.x. forklift operation)
  • Bringing in, setting up and removing various teaching aides for the different programs
  • Other duties as assigned
