Description:

The post holder will operate and maintain the Trust’s electrical installations and services, in an economic, efficient and safe manner, in accordance with legislation and agreed standards. This includes the repair, maintenance or installation of all plant, equipment, systems and building structure/fabric associated with all Trust properties.
The post holder will play a proactive role within the team undertaking Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), testing and calibration, fault finding, emergency response, defect correction and minor works.
Undertake electrical testing and record results to ensure compliance with the latest edition of the wiring regulations BS7671.
Request remedial works and carry out emergency repairs and isolations as and when required.
Undertake electrical installations in accordance with the latest edition of the wiring regulations.
Undertake fault-finding on complex LV networks, critical systems and equipment. Use cause & effect analysis and detailed evaluation and examination to gain a solution, communicating with all hospital staff to verify symptoms of faults.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) inspection and testing in accordance with all Trust and departmental quality procedures.
Undertake portable electrical equipment and fixed installation testing and general inspection as required.
Follow planned maintenance schedules under the instruction of the estates management.

Undertake essential repair works and general plant maintenance activities under the instruction of estates management.
Follow detailed engineering drawings and specifications under the guidance of estates management.
Interpret technical information and formulate technical solutions to improve equipment performance.
Use all relevant hand and power tools and other equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of any works.
Undertake inspection and commissioning tests for installations.
Work in accordance with the requirements of HTM 06-02, the electrical safety code for low voltage systems.
Carry the trust supplied mobile communication device at all times and respond Immediately to any on site emergency.
Take all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment when working in hazardous areas e.g., elevated heights and confined spaces, including lift shafts.
Comply with ward / department requirements when working in areas of barrier nursing, operating theatres, mortuary or general ward and patient areas to carry out repairs to plant / equipment.
Comply with infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
Comply with responsibility to safeguard children, ensuring attendance at appropriate training.
Complete all report sheets and test certificates as necessary.
Inform Estates Management regarding plant or equipment failures, ordering the supply of replacement parts / services through the estates stores as necessary.
Monitor items of plant and equipment and provide all necessary feedback to Estates Managers and Administration staff to ensure completed work is recorded and can be audited as required.
Ensure accuracy of data input into Trust systems.
Always comply with regulations and Trust procedures.
Immediately notify Estates Management of any deviation from the regulations and any plant / equipment faults.
Carry out duties in accordance with current health & safety legislation.
Secure cooperation of staff in implementing operational procedures for new equipment or repairs.
Adapt to developments in duties and procedures to meet the changing needs and requirements of the department.
Actively participate in the operation and control of the engineering planned maintenance schemes to ensure departmental targets and objectives are met.
Liaise with on-call estates management and hospital management outside of normal working hours as and when required.
When working in patient areas, reassure patients as to the safety of any equipment in the area, as required. Instruct patients in use of equipment after investigation of reported faults.
Participate in relevant training and development as identified. Attend training to develop technical and product knowledge, enabling provision of an efficient service as directed by estates managers.
Pass on training and instruction to work colleagues and other hospital staff, in both operation and maintenance of equipment, as appropriate to their profession / trade.
Undertake continuing professional development, including mandatory and statutory updating, maintaining a portfolio.
Participate in research, audit and surveys as required
