At our plant in Glenrothes, Scotland we design, develop and produce radial piston motors working in partnership with world renowned international OEM’s in industries such as material handling, construction and forestry machinery.
There is a vacancy in our Maintenance department for a Maintenance Technician. The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate the availability and sourcing activities with responsibility for driving improvements in process availability through holding of key spares for equipment that supports company sales and profit targets, providing a superior service, in a high quality, timely, cost-effective and resource-efficient way.

Job Description

  • To keep up to date with new developments in materials management in order to enhance business decision making by:
  • Maintaining good knowledge and understanding of material management systems, trends in spare parts management refurbishment.
  • Sharing information to enable others to build their understanding of the team and department objectives and targets.
  • Ensure all materials are easily accessible to technicians.
  • To contribute to the overall department plan by:
  • Identifying and utilising opportunities and suggestions for improvements and growth that exist within the team and department.
  • Proactively supporting manufacturing areas within BRH-DR with all maintenance material requests.
  • Building relationships with other departments, professional bodies, suppliers and customers as required.
  • To contribute to the delivery of maintenance service and projects through undertaking the following activities:
  • Agreeing relevant individual objectives, targets and success criteria for assigned activities and own area of work such as:
  • Maintaining maintenance materials in an efficient manner
  • Ensuring spares / kits are available as required
  • Developing alternative suppliers to reduce costs / lead-times on key materials
  • Agreeing job requirements and competencies, participating in relevant training and development and asking for support as required.
  • Monitoring and sharing own progress, taking corrective action as required.
  • Communicating regularly with other members of the team, department and business to ensure rapid two-way flow of information and contribution to effective team working.
  • Developing and coordinating the team to deliver maintenance service and projects to meet the department’s plan.
  • Encouraging efficiency and effectiveness in all tasks by developing and/or implementing appropriate systems and processes, and sharing information and ideas.
  • Enabling the team to focus on activities that add value.
  • Ensure all material is booked into system in reasonable time frame, therefore available to technicians
  • To ensure the efficient and effective utilisation of resources by:
  • Maximising the use of available resources.
  • Identifying and eliminating waste.
  • Encouraging the team to make changes to enhance service and provide a better return on work done.
  • Balancing cost/risk vs. benefit when specifying or recommending any changes.

You are also expected:

  • To carry out other tasks that may be reasonably requested from time to time.
  • To complete all tasks and objectives in accordance with customer quality, technical and delivery requirements, standard company procedures and policies, Health and Safety requirements and industry Codes of Practice.

Qualifications
Good knowledge of Health & Safety issues
Conversant in Microsoft office products
Knowledge of materials management software (Shire/SAP)
Knowledge of range of suppliers and products
Additional Information
This role reports to the Maintenance Manager. This is a 6 month secondment role
