POSITION OVERVIEW:

Supervise and coordinate all maintenance activities related to production and packaging equipment. Responsible for defining and analyzing production while implementing programs that will improve efficiencies, reduce costs, improve quality, reduce waste and improve customer satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Associate’s Degree/Diploma in a related field
  • Five to seven years of relevant maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Additional technical or leadership experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Prior experience with plastic manufacturing equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills required.
  • Ability to write effective reports is required.
  • Incumbent must possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills and be able to effectively communicate across various levels of the organization.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge in plastic equipment maintenance strongly preferred.
  • Incumbent must have the ability to read, write and interpret technical diagrams and procedures.
  • Strong mathematical skills required.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills required.
  • Incumbent must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to lead team toward successful completion of projects.
  • Must possess and demonstrate all the necessary skills to perform each essential function.
  • Flexible working hours as necessary to meet position requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Respect Amcor Packaging Canada’s primary focus that is to ensure the “Safety” of the co-workers.
  • Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of production maintenance personnel on a daily basis in a 24/7 operating environment. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures. This includes interviewing, performance management, training, complaint resolution, team building and department morale.
  • Ensure that all maintenance personnel and technicians are properly trained and aware of potential safety and/or health risks, including compliance with OSHA requirements and GMP standards.
  • Execute on approved proposals by writing applicable procedures, purchasing necessary parts, equipment, and services, working with the Stock Room team to kit PM materials, and following up on completed projects.
  • Develop and manage an effective and well-documented preventive maintenance program to be executed with timeliness and precision.
  • Review production requirements with operations to establish an effective preventive maintenance schedule and determine priorities for all other production equipment repair/modification requirements.
  • Supervise and assist with repairs, maintenance and modifications to primary and secondary equipment.
  • Analyze production issues and investigate for root cause in order to recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Recommend and institute programs that will improve efficiencies and reduce costs while improving quality and customer service.
  • Assist with annual budgeting for maintenance expenditures and compliance budgeted figures.
  • May be assigned other projects and tasks by Manager as necessary
  • May be required to relieve the Maintenance Manager in their absence.
  • May be required to travel
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
