Description:

The Acadian Seaplants (ASL) Manufacturing Team is seeking a positive, dependable Maintenance Technician at our manufacturing facility in Charlesville, Nova Scotia. This is a great opportunity for candidates who would like to join a strong, motivated team at our world-class, one-of-a kind facility. This is a full-time position, and reliable transportation is a must-have.
As an ideal candidate, you are a strong team player with a good work ethic and strong interpersonal skills. You have experience in mechanical maintenance or another trade with skills in Carpentry/ Infrastructure, preventative maintenance, and mechanical repairs. You are physically fit with the ability to lift and carry loads and can keep up with the fast pace in a production setting. You have a strong commitment to health and safety and pay attention to detail. You have a practical mind and mechanical aptitude.

EDUCATION/ COMPETENCIES:

  • Refrigeration Plant Operator Second Class (provincial or inter provincial) would be an asset but not necessary.
  • Must be able to be accurate in calculations.
  • Must be punctual and committed.
  • A high school diploma is an asset.
  • 2 years of related experience preferred, but not necessary for the right individual with the right skill set
  • Related certifications and/or experience in mechanical maintenance would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a multitude of tasks such as welding / fabrication, preventative maintenance, Carpentry/Infrastructure, troubleshooting, mechanical repairs, as well as other assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrable proper and safe use of power tools.
  • Well-developed organizational skills are required, and general knowledge of computers would be an asset.
  • Must display initiative to achieve the goal of keeping equipment and machinery in proper working order and minimize machine down time.
  • Physically fit, high degree of motivation, manual dexterity, and stamina.
  • Must have own tools, though major tools are provided on site for use

The following are considered an asset, but we will train the right individual:

  • Forklift Certification
  • Fall Arrest Certification
  • Confined Space Entry/Rescue Certification
  • Scaffold Certification
  • Low Voltage Arc Flash Certification
  • First Aid /CPR

Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for Carpentry/Infrastructure, preventive maintenance and repairs to equipment and machinery at the Charlesville site in a safe and timely manner. They will also be responsible for performing or arranging for general maintenance throughout the facility in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager and other associated personnel. Carpentry/Infrastructure work and equipment maintenance hold equal weight on site.
