Description:

Job Overview:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the timely resolution of equipment breakdowns and general plant maintenance. In addition, this role will participate in continuous improvement projects and assist with upholding Health and Safety protocols with regards to plant equipment and manufacturing processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned by Glass Line, Railings & Commercial
  • Perform skilled maintenance and repair on mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Test and replace circuits; coordinate emergency repairs and large complex projects; troubleshoot and correct defective switches, receptacles, ballasts, and other wiring; perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Plumbing, Mechanical HVAC
  • Concrete & Asphalt repairs
  • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and resolve equipment issues.
  • Order required parts for equipment and maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Work with Equipment vendors to assist with equipment breakdowns and parts sourcing.
  • Work with Production supervisors to schedule routine preventative maintenance and equipment inspections during production down time.
  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures on all plant equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, belt change, checks fluid levels, replace filters, grease bearings, seals, etc.; repair or replace broken parts.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects related to process improvement or new equipment deployments.
  • Create jigs/fixtures for production departments.
  • Work with Health & Safety to ensure all equipment and processes meet industrial regulations and company safety policies.
  • Assist with Plant/Building maintenance as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Management.
  • Assist with the installation & commissioning of new equipment.
  • Travel to various work locations based on the maintenance work required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Maintenance Technician role with automated equipment.
  • Knowledge of electromechanical systems to troubleshoot automated equipment.
  • Working in a Glass Manufacturing company preferred
  • Familiar with Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Electrical systems
  • PLC experience troubleshooting equipment failures.
  • Valid Forklift and Scissor lift license required.
  • Industrial Electrician Designation an asset
  • Millwright Designation an asset.
  • Ability to read vendor drawings and machine schematics.
  • Experience with glass equipment an asset (cutting tables, tempering furnaces)
  • Experience with Lock-Out/ Tag-Out required.
  • Candidate will have their G license and own car as travel may be required between locations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, bend, and crouch.
  • Ability to prepare documents and report on production.
  • Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
  • Ability to work independently.
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: $25.00-$45.00 per hour
    Expected hours: No less than 42.5 per week
