Description:
Position: Maintenance Technician
SUMMARY: The Maintenance tech reports directly to the Operations Manager at BTN Niagara and is responsible for effectively executing day-to-day maintenance activities. This is a full-time year-round position with regular hours typically 5 days per week, and additional hours/weekends as required. BTN strives for a team environment where every individual is important to the Organization. As SG, you are responsible for setting a good working example, directly contributing to a positive work environment. It is imperative that a strong working relationship exists with Distribution, Growing, Finishing and Production. Great communication and cooperation ability between departments.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Fast decision-making skills to resolve time-critical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Thorough understanding of both BTN policies as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Able to work in a large and diverse workforce, busy multi-operational facility
- Able to work weekends during peak season (Oct/Nov; April/May)
- Able to lift to 75lbs
- G driver’s license: D-class license is an asset
- Welding is an asset
- Possess good math skill level. Add, subtract, multiply & divide.
- Understanding of proper lifting procedures
- Ability to work in fluctuating indoor/outdoor temperatures & conditions.
- Ability to walk freely, bend, kneel, and turn free of restriction.
- Must be able to drive tow motors
- Must be able to tolerate hot, uncomfortable conditions while wearing Personal Protective Equipment during warm weather
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school Diploma Required
- Post Secondary preferred

Responsibilities:
- Assist with repairs on company machinery, equipment, or appliances.
- Assist with repairs and maintenance of buildings including structural/carpentry, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
- Assist with repairs and maintenance of irrigation systems and grow-house equipment
- Inspect the facility and keep open communication with the Maintenance team
- Follow instructions and directions from the Operations Manager
- Keep workspace cleaned and organized
- Facility overall maintenance (i.e. snow removal, grounds keeping)
