Description:
St Agnes Parish Council requires a Maintenance Technician to work within its Maintenance Team (four other people) to deliver first class standards of grounds and asset management within the parish.
The Parish Council is responsible for cutting vegetation growth along some Public Rights of Way (PRoW). The successful candidate will support the Council to meet its PRoW responsibilities; alongside other general grounds work such as strimming, hedge cutting, mowing and planting within Council owned/managed public green spaces.
The post holder will work at various sites within the parish to undertake general asset management support such as clearing, cleaning and decorating. The sites include: three sets of public toilets (at Porthtowan, St Agnes (Churchtown) and Trevaunance Cove), two car parks, a library, the Council office building, 2 allotment sites and 2 cemeteries. The Parish Council is responsible for the upkeep of bus shelters, benches and other street furniture and the successful candidate will support the Maintenance Team to ensure these assets are in good order.
The post holder will be supervised by the Grounds Maintenance Manager and helped to settle into the role and establish a mutually convenient work pattern. The Council’s Property & Business Development Manager works closely with the Maintenance Team to establish work requirements, and the successful candidate must be able to work effectively as a team member and be able to take instruction. Training will be provided.
The post holder will be key to portraying a strong and positive public image of the Council. The successful candidate will be able to work with the public, Councillors, volunteers, contractors and other members of staff.
Annual leave entitlement is 23 days (pro rata) plus two extra statutory days, and the post-holder must be available to cover sickness leave for colleagues from time to time.
The Council is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (Cornwall Pension Fund – employer contribution currently 19.6%) and all its employees are entitled to join. The position is permanent and has automatic annual pay increases.
