Description:
SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for delivering front line maintenance on the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) systems throughout the region. The role will also include supporting projects and other maintenance elements across the business. The role is mainly based at a site in Rickmansworth but travel to other sites with overnight stays is expected.
The main function of the role is being responsible, on a day-to-day basis, for carrying out maintenance activities associated with the WTP (Water Treatment Plant) on a client site in Rickmansworth. As well as supporting daily operational tasks working with the onsite Operators, the technician will be expected to carry out preventative and corrective maintenance activities as part of their role, working to a maintenance schedule on a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).
The key objectives of the role are;
Carry out all duties in a safe manner to ensure that there is a minimum risk of harm to people or the environment.
Carry out maintenance and ensure timely completion of all PM and CM activities through the CMMS safely, responding to breakdowns in a timely manner.
Communicate with other members of the NSI and Customer teams to ensure that there is a good level of understanding regarding plant performance, activities to be carried out and any impacts on site wide operations.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential):
- A strong commitment to upholding safe working practices.
- Extensive experience of carrying out mechanical maintenance.
- Training in Health & Safety.
- Committed team player.
- Computer literate with attention to detail and a positive attitude to work.
- NVQ / City & Guilds or other qualification in Mechanical Engineering and/or significant relevant experience
Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable):
- NVQ / City & Guilds or other qualification in Electrical Engineering and/or significant relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Water Treatment Plants, UF, RO, Ion Exchange process or any other production/process related plants Operations.
- To be able to demonstrate through previous work experience, the capacity to interpret technical information from drawing, P&IDs, data sheets etc.
- Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system.
- NVQ in relevant discipline.
- Ability and knowledge to complete basic repairs and maintenance on (electro)mechanical assets
Responsibilities:
- Visible ownership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within NSI whilst working within the client and NSI HSE systems.
- Work closely with the NSI UK wide maintenance team(s).
- Issue permits to work for other NSI maintenance and subcontractor engineers (training provided).
- Ensure effective recording of activities and breakdowns through the CMMS.
- Develop risk assessments and safe systems of work for all tasks for approval.
- Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and NSI.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, NSI employees and sub-contractor staff.
- Proactively manage external relationships with the client and sub-contractors.
- Innovate in the workplace to bring improvement and opportunity.
- Identity faults, evaluate rectification measures and to make initial recommendations.
- Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on electromechanical systems and instrumentation.
- Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the WWTP on site.
- Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practices.
- Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other NSI staff with the ability to work unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
- Undergo training as required and identify training needs.
- Raise work orders for plant maintenance.
- Share knowledge / experience with colleagues and others.
- Effectively communicate with other third party contractors.
