We are seeking a Maintenance Technician for a key client of ours in Southfield, MI This position will be M-F in Southfield. In this role you will survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards. Perform carpentry, plumbing, and maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels etc.). In this role you will also:
- Assist in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary
- Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality
- Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed
- Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows etc.)
- Undertake activities of pest control such as spraying insecticide
- Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g. landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry etc.)
- Assist in budget preparation of the maintenance department and ensure it is followed
- Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repairs
- Make notes and recommendations using a pre-established check sheet.
- Perform minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
- Order parts and maintain required documents.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
- At least 3-5 years of previous experience working in facilities maintenance or a similar role
- Proven experience as maintenance technician
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
- Carpentry and masonry knowledge
- Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
- Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A bonus would be any certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly (maintenance equipment, drywall, etc.)
