UPM Raflatac Canada is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess significant electrical and mechanical expertise, be eager to learn, and be committed to supporting our operation processes. The role involves maintaining and improving equipment to ensure optimal performance and a high level of operational efficiency.

What you will do

  • You will address automation, electrical, and mechanical equipment problems during breakdowns and implement corrective/predictive/preventive measures to eliminate equipment issues and improve work practices
  • You will monitor PLC systems and participate in new equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications
  • You will engage in a reliability-centered maintenance program to optimize efficiency and production flow
  • You will maintain appropriate documentation of condition monitoring, work performed, parts used, and follow-up needed related to equipment maintenance
  • You will enhance appropriate housekeeping standards in all work areas and manage the local storeroom to ensure an accurate inventory of spare parts
  • You will coordinate, communicate, and oversee local contractors as required, and support service agreement negotiations for machines and machine elements
  • You will prioritize assigned work in coordination with the Operations Leadership Team
  • You will perform all procedures in full compliance with laws, safety, and environmental regulations, and in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures

Who you are

  • You have an associate degree (or an equivalent) in electrical engineering technology, or related field, with 5–10 years of multi-craft maintenance experience, focusing on electrical/automation
  • You have experience in the paper or paper converting industry
  • You understand the National Electric Code, OSHA requirements, and both European and US electrical diagrams and symbols, strongly desire
  • You are able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and blueprints
  • You have a basic understanding of mechanical components used and the effective maintenance of a wide range of equipment, including highly automated, technologically advanced machinery
  • You have good understanding and practical experience with PLC systems, preferably Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley
  • You are proficient in troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, and Process Control Systems
  • You have experience with CMMS and AutoCAD preferred; high communication, problem-solving skills, motivation, and ability to work both individually and as a team member
