JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Major Gift Officer
Reports to: Individual Giving Manager
Salary range: $60,000-$70,000
FLSA Status: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

The major gift officer designs and implements a strategy to identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with MD SPCA donors giving $1,000-4,999 annually. They implement and track the effectiveness of programs to retain new donors and strengthen existing relationships. As part of the development team, the officer shares responsibility for attaining annual and capital fundraising goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of development or related experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Comfortable engaging with donors online, over the phone, and in person.
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and establish confidence with stakeholders.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail and self-motivation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRMs.
  • History of success in a team environment, managing multiple assignments, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to flex hours to accommodate occasional weekend or evening events.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit a portfolio of prospective and current donors to retain and increase their giving based on capacity and interests.
  • Collaborate with the donor relations specialist to develop automated and unique donor journeys that address interests as well as capacity.
  • Analyze and report on acquisition, upgrades, and retention to continually improve strategy.
  • Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including reporting.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned, including occasional evening and weekend meetings and events.
