Description:

Duration: One year, with possibility to extend
Location: fully remote, must be located in timezones +/- 2 hours of GMT. Travel required.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early career management accountant to expand their experience, working closely with the Senior Finance Manager in a small, hands-on, flexible team. The role is responsible for assisting with day-to-day accounting activities, dealing with management accounts and liaising with project managers.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate relevant experience and effective delivery of the following essential criteria:

  • Experience with online accounting software, preferably Xero or a similar package
  • Experience in a small and varied accounting function
  • Experience with management accounts of varying complexity, and of reporting to either the FD or a Board
  • Experience of Google Workspace, especially Sheets
  • Experience of multiple currency accounting
  • Experience of budgeting and forecasting at project and organizational level

The following experience is desirable but not essential:

  • UK VAT returns, particularly for companies with overseas transactions
  • CIMA/ACCA/CPA qualified or part qualified, or qualified by experience
  • Experience of project and fund management, deferred grant income

Responsibilities:

This is a new role so responsibilities are likely to vary as the organization grows. This will therefore require a flexible candidate, who is willing to deal with an evolving role in a changing and growing organization. Caribou Digital is a UK registered business and this role includes the following accounting responsibilities for this UK company:

  • Data Entry: Accurately input financial data into accounting software and ensure all records are up-to-date.
  • Invoice Processing: Prepare, process, and file invoices, ensuring that all invoices are approved and paid in a timely manner.
  • Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling bank statements, accounts payable, and receivable to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Financial Records: Maintain and organize financial documents and records, ensuring they are easily accessible for auditing and reporting purposes.
  • Payment Processing: Prepare and process electronic transfers, payments, and receipts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Expense Reporting: Manage employee expense reports, ensuring that all claims are supported by proper documentation and approved according to company policy.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the finance team, including filing, scheduling meetings, and handling correspondence.
  • Assist with Month-End Closures: Help in preparing monthly financial reports and assist with month-end closing procedures.
  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts and reports to the senior team, CEO and Board level.
  • Assist with project and fund management on our dedicated software, including reconciliation with the accounting software.
  • Support Audits: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to audit queries.
  • Communication: Liaise with vendors, customers, and internal departments to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to invoices and payments.
