What’s expected of you?
As a Management Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing, analysing, and reporting financial data to provide management with timely and accurate insights into the company’s financial performance. You will support ensuring effective cost control and maximising profitability along with developing and helping to implement internal systems to ensure maximum efficiency in processes. This role requires attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations in the UK.
Key Duties Include:

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare monthly journals, review revenue and costs in detail.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts for UK and ROI (two trading companies and several holding companies) and upload into DataRails.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet items.
  • Support the FP&A team where needed to explain variances between actuals and budgets/forecasts and provide detailed commentary to senior management.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support decision-making.

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management:

  • Manage working capital by tracking debtors, creditors, and stock levels. Working with the Purchase Ledger Team and Credit Controllers to ensure we reach cash balance targets.
  • Liaise with the Group Financial Controller to ensure effective cash management.

Compliance & Controls:

  • Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Assist with the annual audit.
  • Compilation and Submission of UK and Irish VAT return, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Compilation and Submission of UK PAYE and pension returns, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Assisting with the compliance of customs and duties protocols.
  • Support the Group Financial Controller with data collation for tax and R&D claim submissions.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and implement improvements in financial processes and reporting systems.
  • Assist the Group Financial Controller with the implementation of Sage X3 (UK & ROI).
  • Supporting the team and ensuring fixes are made to post go live issues.
  • Work as part of the team to identify opportunities of improvements to Sage X3 and our processes post go live.

Professional Experience and Qualifications:

  • Professional Qualifications: fully or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
  • Experience:
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards.
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Proficient in financial software (e.g. Sage, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
