TE HAEATA/THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our high performing team of finance professionals as maternity cover through to July 2025. Reporting to the Finance Manager and working with your Finance Business Partner to support a varied portfolio of Budget Managers.
In this role you are a guardian of the quality of our underlying financial information. Your experience will ensure regular processes and reporting, including month end, run smoothly. You will be working with your Finance Business Partner to provide budgeting support, financial advice, information, and analysis to help your customers manage their financial performance and make timely and informed financial decisions achieve each business unit and group business aims and objectives.
We are looking for people who have an eye for quality, strong relationship skills, and that are focused on process improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will seek to combine your technical knowledge with excellent communication (both oral and written) to build strong relationships with your customers to ensure the credibility of financial information and advice is maintained.

You will have the following skills and experience to be successful in this role:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience and a commitment to ongoing professional development
  • A Chartered Accountancy qualification (preferred) or working towards the qualification
  • Able to identify critical financial requirements to guide budget preparation and an understanding of budgeting principles
  • Able to analyse information and communicate it effectively
  • Understanding of the machinery of government, public sector systems and processes, and the associated accountability requirements
  • Excellent Excel and MS Word skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex messages clearly, simply and concisely.
