Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is part of the Business Partnering team who are responsible for providing internal financial reporting, partnering with internal stakeholders to provide financial insight and decision support, and maintaining the financial controls supporting their areas.

The scope of the role is our Retail business, which includes 250 UK stores and 100 international locations in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.

  • Prepare accurate and complete financial accounting in line with the month-end timetable for store costs.
  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly management information to the Retail team with commentary that demonstrates comprehensive understanding of cost drivers and variance analysis to budget and prior year.
  • Support the Retail Business Partner prepare for review meetings with the Retail Directors and their teams to feedback actionable insight into the result and improve business performance. Deputize for the Retail Business Partner in their absence.
  • Identify drivers of overspend and support and challenge the Retail team to ensure delivery and control of their budget.
  • Evolve month end reporting and analysis to better communicate financial performance to key stakeholders to support decision making.
  • Work closely with the Retail team and Retail Business Partner to deliver annual budget and forecasting cycles to agreed deadlines.
  • Support the Retail team and Retail Business Partner with financial planning and decision support, using the insight and knowledge gained from internal reporting.
  • Manage risk and opportunity through preparation of robust balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Develop and mature a close working relationship with the Retail team so that finance input on strategic, commercial and operational decisions is sought as a matter of course.
  • Significant involvement in the year-end process, preparation of deliverables for the audit and key contact for the auditors during the audit process.
  • Ongoing non-business as usual project work within the finance team as and when required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Newly qualified accountant with prior experience working in a high-volume environment.
  • Retail experience preferred but not essential.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and a desire to drive improvements in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial business.
  • Excellent numeracy and IT skills including advanced Excel with a strong attention to detail.
