EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:

  • University Degree in Accounting required
  • Completion of a Canadian-recognized accounting designation (CPA via CA, CGA or CMA stream).
  • MBA, or other business accreditation an asset.

KEY ATTRIBUTES (EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE):

  • US GAAP – existing and future requirements
  • 5+ years of previous accounting experience.
  • Proven track record in financial analysis.
  • Large Accounting Firm exposure an asset.
  • Knowledge of public entity reporting requirements.
  • Strong audit knowledge and exposure to the audit process.
  • ERP working knowledge an asset.
  • MS Office suite of products with an emphasis on strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Manager, Accounting and Reporting is a key member of the Finance team, providing essential support to senior finance management and other departments by delivering accurate financial analysis and reports to support decision-making across the enterprise. The key responsibility of this role will be the preparation of US GAAP internal and external financial reporting for the entities within the enterprise. As the Manager, Accounting and Reporting, support will be provided in various other areas, which include budgeting, forecasting and reporting analytics. The Manager, Accounting and Reporting will work closely with the Finance and Sales team members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interpret and implement US GAAP accounting standards through written memos and working papers;
  • Oversee the recording of revenue transactions, reconciliations, and other accounting activities;
  • Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements (10K & 10Q) for the reporting entities. The statements are US GAAP compliant;
  • Assist in the preparation of US GAAP regulatory required reports and Forms;
  • Participate in the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) process to remain compliant with requirements of NI 52-109;
  • Collaborate with managers in other departments to achieve financial and operational results;
  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual financial statement audit with external auditors;
  • Prepare year-end audit working papers
  • Analyze and report on variances between actual results vs. budgeted and forecasted results with particular emphasis on various efficiency measures and key metrics;
  • Maintenance of manuals documenting accounting procedures and policies including; ERP, & other financial processes;
  • Responsible for the monthly results close - preparation of journal entries, review of account reconciliations and support;
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the accounting and reporting functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Additional tasks as assigned.
