Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Manage, coach, develop and mentor employees for exceptional performance and to prepare them for future opportunities.
  • Ensure architectural controls are aligned and applied in the Division as directed by Corporate Architecture.
  • Coordinate, review and revise architectural drawings to ensure that all documentation complies with Mattamy’s strict standards and Alberta Building Code.
  • Develop architectural budgets outlining the estimated cost to complete prior to sales release.
  • Work with Architecture Team lead to ensure department tasks are completed prior to sales release. Includes siting analysis, exterior colour upgrades, sales drawings etc.
  • Work with Architecture Team lead to ensure production levels meet the Division’s requirements
  • Ensure external consultants are aligned with the Division’s needs and schedules.
  • Lead the coordination of the revision process of working drawings. Includes structural revisions, municipal review comments, subcontractor revisions, purchasing/construction/sales requests and provide updated “Issued for Construction” drawings to Purchasing and Construction teams.
  • Coordination of working drawings for upgraded elevations and review of costs with Contract Manager.
  • Conduct and promote site visits to ensure quality and accuracy of information shown on working drawings, review exterior colours and detailing.
  • Lead new production development projects as required for the Division’s needs. With feedback from other departments and trade partners, ensure the product being designed meets the needs for the Division. Example: desirability, constructability, affordability, sustainability etc.

What you bring

  • Architectural Technology Diploma from a Community College or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of business experience working in an architecture related role, ideally within the residential construction field or project management in construction.
  • Experienced in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; demonstrated use of good judgment in handling large volume of requests with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge and skills with drawing application programs in particular, AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate verbally, in writing, and visually through use of architectural drawings.
  • Ability to apply standard construction techniques to CAD drawings.
  • Full understanding and ability to apply Part 9 and Part 3 of the Alberta Building Code (Housing)
  • Detail-orientated with ability to check documents/drawings for accuracy, communicate detailed changes and ensure corrections are made.
