Description:
[What the role is]
The Biodiversity Information and Outreach Branch under the National Biodiversity Centre is responsible for coordinating and implementing the Community in Nature (CIN) initiative, a national movement to connect and engage communities in conserving Singapore’s natural heritage.
[What you will be working on]
The successful applicant is required to develop and promote strategic collaborations with stakeholders, such as schools, youth and citizen scientists in fulfilling the objectives of Community in Nature (CIN) initiatives.
Responsibilities will include implementing and reviewing various CIN programmes, conducting outreach to various community and other stakeholders, managing CIN Biodiversity Watches, volunteers and support the Festival of Biodiversity and related outreach activities.
[What we are looking for]
- Degree in Environmental Studies, Life Sciences, or related discipline with a strong background in outreach programming
- Preferably with 2 years working experience in teaching or nature outreach and programme design
- Possess strong written and communication skills, project management, coordination and community engagement
- Conversant in various types of mediums for the development of educational materials including audio and visual equipment, familiarity with the internet and web-based media.
- Experience in producing educational material would be an advantage.
- Self-motivated, creative and resourceful team player who is able to work independently
- Has a keen interest in biodiversity conservation/outreach and enjoy working in an outdoor environment and willing to work on weekends
