REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors’ degree in business, marketing or a related field is required. A combination of experience and education may be considered
  • In-depth knowledge of the principles and practices of business development, sales, and account management to promote RRC Polytech’s training offerings, foster partnerships and generate revenue
  • Understanding of the training and development industry, including customized training programs and adult learning principles to address challenges and opportunities resulting in growth opportunities
  • Substantial market research and analysis skills to identify industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies to identify potential clients, understand training needs, and assess competitors, resulting in making informed, market-driven decisions
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies to deliver smooth execution and timely delivery of training, leading to overall project success
  • Proven experience in key account sales and management, preferably in the training and development industry, with a track record of meeting or exceeding annual revenue targets
  • Strong financial literacy and management skills to effectively plan and resource large scale projects and make sound budgetary decisions for the department
  • Experience in Human Resource management including recruitment, hiring processes and performance support and management
  • Effective leadership and management skills to motivate, support and develop team members realizing operational and departmental goals
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with industry, government and First Nations clients
  • Familiarity with cross-functional collaboration and working with various stakeholders, sponsors and funders
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in a post-secondary institution with a focus on training and development
  • Experience generating and managing multiple projects
  • An understanding of legal implications, contracts and agreements related to corporate training projects, ensuring compliance, and protecting the Polytech’s interests
  • Self identifies as an Indigenous person

Responsibilities:

The Manager, Business Development is responsible for developing strategies to build relationships with industry, government, and First Nations clients to expand the College’s reach into new and existing markets. Focused on Health Care Initiatives, the role strengthens partnerships with First Nation and Indigenous organizations to help create a healthcare model emphasizing self-administration, self-determination, and self-governance. The Manager identifies collaborators, negotiates partnerships, and fosters relationships critical to securing contracts and collaborations that drive the College’s success.
Serving as the face of the College, the Manager forges connections that support revenue growth and the achievement of strategic goals. By showcasing industry partnerships, the Manager highlights the College’s relevance and its ability to adapt to industry trends. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for generating revenue through corporate training, securing contracts, and meeting annual financial targets, significantly contributing to the College’s overall budget. Through effective advocacy, the Manager enhances the College’s reputation, visibility, and positioning within industry, government, and First Nations sectors.
