QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post secondary bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar or related role.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory and management experience leading a team.
- An understanding of best practices, programs, and models related to career development and internship programs for post-secondary students.
- Knowledge of job markets and occupations as well as graduate degrees and/or certifications required for student to meet their career aspirations.
- Knowledge of the academic programs and disciplines taught within the Faculty of Arts and Social Science and Faculty of Theology at Huron.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to respond to inquiries with diplomacy and tact.
- Exceptional and well-honed customer service skills to represent Huron professionally in all interactions.
- Leadership skills with a track record of building and leading teams to achieve organizational and individual goals.
- Strong judgement, analytical, and problem-solving skills to work collaboratively and in consult with others to address underlying issues and identify opportunities and solutions.
- Excellent time management skills and a demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and eager to identify new opportunities.
- Ability to work with diverse communities with respect, sensitivity, creativity, innovation, and cultural understanding.

Responsibilities:
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Manager, Career Development is a pivotal role within the Centre for Career Development that will assess, support, and implement services and strategies that are impactful towards the achievement of departmental and organizational goals. This role will include the coordination and cultivation of external community partnerships and create internal dialogue between the Career Development team, internal departments, and students to initiate and develop working relationships. This role reports to the Chief Strategy Officer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing Department: Support and promote the team’s adherence to procedures, processes, reporting, targets, and overall scheduling.
- Program Oversight: Oversee program and project development and execution with alignment towards departmental and university goals.
- Program Management: Manage key projects by tracking timelines, delegating activities, ensuring outcomes, and meeting deadlines while adhering to the project budget.
- Strategic Partnership Engagement: Oversee and support strategic partnerships with external organizations.
- Collaboration: Facilitate collaborations to support program development, employer partners, and student placement goals.
- Data Reporting: Track departmental performance metrics and financial data to prepare reports that facilitate data-driven decision-making and highlights achievements
- Operational Process Improvement: Gather feedback from community partners, team members, students, and data to assess impactful improvements and process efficiencies.
- Budgetary Management: Oversee budget tracking and reporting to stay within overall budgets and meet departmental goals.
