Air Canada Cargo is seeking a Manager, Cargo Science and Innovation to help drive our data-driven initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate with the AI COE data scientist and work independently to build data science and analytical models to solve cargo business problems.

RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic roadmap for data science proof of concepts using low-code data science tools
  • Lead the development of analytical models to drive cargo innovation
  • Lead research on emerging trends in AI related to Cargo and recommend innovative solutions to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Provide feedback to the corporate AI team related to the effectiveness of their data science models produced for Cargo
  • Using low-code data science tools (such as Dataiku) to:
  • Develop and implement processes for the end-to-end deployment of the data science models
  • Manipulate complex and extremely varied data sets within Air Canada Cargo and external sources to solve real world problems
  • Utilize multiple sources of data along with broad range of machine learning techniques in order to improve performance and interpretability of the models
  • Prepare and integrate large and various types of data (structured/non-structured)
  • Ensure the optimization of data science models, including feature selection and build, using different techniques in the data science toolbox
  • Produce data-driven insights to help in informed decisions and actions by telling a convincing story and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Develop automated processes for large scale end-to-end deployment
  • Continuously validate accuracy and improve implemented solutions/models
  • Ensure the optimization of data science models, including feature selection and build
  • Leverage visualization tools/packages to create representations of results
  • Provide guidance and support to the cargo business stakeholders to maximize the value of the analytics output for their decision making
  • Build data requirements and measurement plans that accurately measure the success of Cargo AI initiatives, work with the AI COE to execute on these plans and present effectively to key stakeholders
  • Key participant in the strategic development and execution of the Cargo AI Roadmap
  • Work collaboratively to provide data science knowledge to develop new AI driven solutions with a multi-disciplinary team including business stakeholders, change managers, business translators, data scientists, data engineers and developers

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, applied statistics, BI, econometrics, computer science, operations research, etc.). Strong business acumen is essential
  • 7+ years of experience using in data science, operational research or similar quantitative roles in industry or academic environment
  • Strong communications, presentation, and decision-making skills including the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Strong team orientation
  • Detail oriented, strong organizational skills and analytical abilities
  • A strong understanding of technological integrations including program delivery, continuous implementation, and delivery processes
