KPMG is currently seeking a Manager, Commercial Contracts (Advisory) to join our Enterprise Commercial Contracting organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply a thorough understanding of contract lifecycle management practices in the Enterprise Contract Center (ECC) supporting Advisory, implement firm policies and procedures, and provide guidance requiring application of judgment to professionals
  • Act as end-to-end single point of contact throughout the contract management process, escalating to leadership when necessary; review client redlines and client terms for specific contracts by leveraging playbooks, and when required, escalate clauses for review to SMEs, RM, Independence and OGC, ensuring SME input is incorporated into contract, and negotiate directly with client
  • Manage contract portfolio by retaining executed contracts; support document and information gathering for quarterly business reviews, internal audits, or client claims; recommend process enhancements and improvements; document current policies, processes, and protocols to help ensure consistency; monitor contract repository and engagement data to ensure firm achieves full value from contracts
  • Interface regularly with Advisory partners and professionals and external clients regarding execution of responsibilities and to drive desired outcomes; exercise good judgement about risk and growth to protect the organization by creating contracts from the agreed, standardized templates and clauses
  • Conduct client discussions to reach agreement on key business/regulatory risks in real time and provide guidance on applicable terms for specific service offerings to align firm capabilities; assist with the execution of tactical plans and strategic objectives; establish credibility across peer group and ECC leaders
  • Oversee work product(s) and lead entire small projects, managing deadlines, expectations, and often contribute to staffing decisions; supervise the work performed by more junior staff; provide feedback to such individuals and may also serve as a formal performance manager of a team of junior employees

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of recent experience in contract management, government/commercial contracting, procurement or in another capacity directly reviewing, drafting, or negotiating government/commercial contracts; preferably in the professional services industry
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications particularly, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and Excel including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, Graphs and Macros; strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to identify commercial risks and mitigations and to identify, analyze, and articulate improvement opportunities for contracting process based on understanding of contract lifecycle management, problematic contracting provisions, market trends, and the firm’s risk tolerances; comfortable working with data and ambiguity with the power to both delve into the details and operational tactics while engaging meaningfully on the big picture events and overall strategy; capacity to manage projects and processes, applying expertise to make concrete decisions that impact the organization, as well as able to establish credible relationships and become a trusted advisor to engagement teams and business leadership
  • Understanding of and capability to advocate for leading contract lifecycle management practices, with an interest and acumen for understanding legal matters; potential to positively influence, mentor and be a credible source of knowledge to less experienced team members; able to prioritize, delegate and foster the development of high-performance teams to lead/support an environment driven by customer service and teamwork
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, reading comprehension, and critical thinking skills with the aptitude to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority; able to work collaboratively as well as independently
