ABOUT CORDELIO POWER
Cordelio Power is an independent renewable power producer that develops, owns, and manages renewable power facilities across North America. Cordelio manages an operating portfolio of over 1,400 MW of renewable power assets across Canada and the United States, and a growth pipeline of over 20+ GW of wind, solar and storage projects across the United States. Cordelio is wholly owned by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
With offices in Toronto, Vancouver, New York, Chicago, and Portland, Cordelio’s operations and growth activities are performed with a view toward working with all stakeholders in an efficient, safe, and environmentally responsible manner
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Manager, Community Relations is responsible for integrating Cordelio into the local communities where our projects are located, establishing positive relationships and managing a continuous, positive presence within those communities. The Manager will develop relationships with key stakeholders in project areas to gain input on and support community-related activities. The Manager will collaborate with and support internal groups such as Development, Power Marketing, Engineering, Project Finance, Operations and Asset Management teams. This role will report to the Director, Land & Community.
Cordelio will consider candidates without direct industry experience interested in engaging in the rapidly evolving renewable energy industry. This role is available in Toronto, Canada with a hybrid work schedule, though we will consider remote/home based/virtual position for eligible Canada and US based candidates as well.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in similar or relevant roles.
- Experience interacting with remote or indirect internal and external resources, including county officials, various relevant government representatives, landowners, consultants, and contractors.
- Experience in renewable energy, or other large infrastructure industry is an asset.
- The ability to communicate well with people of all backgrounds, personal beliefs and political opinions, and show respect for all community members in every instance.
- The ability to read and analyze legal documentation, agreements etc. is considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with specific attention to detail.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Up to 30% primarily domestically (U.S. and Canada). Includes travel primarily to stakeholder meetings as well as occasionally to company facilities and conferences.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of desk work and working on a computer.
- Visual acuity both near and far; manual dexterity with good eye/hand coordination; good hearing.
- Standing walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, lifting, and squatting will also be required as necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Responsibilities:
- Creates a comprehensive community engagement plan for all projects for the development, construction and operations stages, with input from other team members.
- Manages tasks, activities and progress against the community engagement plan. Reviews additional information as it becomes available that could be used to continually improve the community engagement plan and works collaboratively to implement any changes.
- Participates in recurring project meetings and communicates/collaborates with the project development, construction and operations teams to manage progress of the community engagement plan. Provides feedback on outcomes of community activities and general community sentiment as it relates to Cordelio and/or the project.
- Establishes and manages relationships with community officials, local community members and project site personnel.
- Identifies and addresses challenging or complex situations in a timely manner, and in consultation with other team members.
- Creates and maintains touchpoints with local stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
- Establishes local, physical offices where applicable.
- Recruits team members in local municipalities to support local engagement (local team members will report to the Manager, Community Relations where applicable).
- Collaborates with the project team to draft content for social media (including Facebook and website) pages.
- Monitors (a) local news, including through subscriptions to local newspapers, community websites and social media pages, and (b) any opposition groups via online social media pages, local newspapers, or websites; engages with community engagement team to discuss observations, and consider responses. Works to identify new marketing and outreach opportunities to further build relationships and establish positive community sentiment.
- Collaborates with other internal teams and suppliers to develop and create printed and digital marketing products for use in targeted campaigns on projects. Monitors of campaigns and adjusts marketing efforts accordingly.
- Manages the coordination and execution of community events in coordination with the Land & Community team.
- Assists in the preparation of the annual budget for the Land & Community Department.
- Facilitates all activities related to payment processing associated with Cordelio’s community engagement work. If required, reviews and analyzes language in any community agreements to ensure accuracy of payment amounts.
- Tracks all community-related activities against the budget, including but not limited to the purchasing and distribution of company promotional items.
- Collaborates with third party vendors to manage public relations, community relations and marketing as it relates to the Land & Community objectives.
