Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Director, Health Solutions Compliance, this role is responsible for the day-to-day compliance oversight of Health Solutions in Sun Life Health. In this second line of defense role, you will collaborate closely with Group Benefits, Operational Risk and other oversight function teams such as Legal and Internal Audit to ensure that compliance risks are managed in accordance with regulatory and business standards. Leveraging an existing regulatory compliance management (RCM) program, you will be responsible for providing oversight and guidance to the second line of defence (2LOD), enabling the business unit to make informed decisions while meeting regulatory expectations. The role will be general in scope initially, with opportunity specialize in areas of interest once appropriate experience has been gained.
A compliance or risk professional, you have financial services experience, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements as they impact the Health Ecosystem. You demonstrate high personal and professional standards, act with integrity, and operate as a trusted partner for the mitigation of compliance risks by providing advice, oversight and challenge in support of helping Clients achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Oversee 2LOD RCM activities, including identification, measurement, management, monitoring and reporting of compliance risks
- Promote compliance awareness and provide effective challenge of 1LOD activities
- Ensure business has robust compliance structures in place, integrated with Sun Life’s existing RCM program
- Assist 2LOD in designing and making available compliance-related training for relevant staff
- Provide business with interpretation on existing, new, and amended Compliance requirements
- Report on compliance programs, emerging and potential risks, control weaknesses, significant issues, and key regulatory developments
- Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of controls to ensure they are sufficiently robust to achieve compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
- Perform compliance testing on established controls within the business
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in business, operations, compliance, audit, legal, and with regulatory staff
