Job Description
The purpose of the role is to assist in the due diligence and risk assessment process from a technical perspective of new and ongoing transactions that the bank is involved in, providing a succinct summary of the key risks and recommendation into the decision-making process.
This will include initial and ongoing due diligence of project finance transactions; corporate assessments; and guarantee issuances. The role is intended to cover the Global Power & Infrastructure sector portfolio, i.e. inclusive of South Africa, Multi National Corporates and Africa Regions deals and clients.

Minimum Qualifications
Type of Qualification: First Degree
Field of Study: A strong academic track record, including a relevant university qualification (and ideally a masters) in civil and/or electrical engineering or other relevant technical qualification

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

5 - 10 years’ experience in Power generation and/or Construction industries, including technical experience in assessing various technologies and working within the framework of power generation/distribution/transmission and construction sectors, ideally within several different engineering functions (design/evaluate/implement/monitor)
A strong understanding of the technical aspects of the various power generation technologies, infrastructure related projects and/or construction practices, commercial bankability and application and the ability to review and be critical of the work prepared by others (e.g. LTAs)
Ideally some experience working in a finance/M&A role, either within a bank or a power generation/developer, construction company, Lender’s Technical Advisory or Owner’s Engineering or Consulting company on similar projects
A successful transaction track record demonstrating sector expertise whether through execution of projects within the power and/or construction sector or within a financial or consultancy institution
A successful track record of building and developing relationships with key stakeholders at the previous institution both internally and externally
Demonstrate a good level of business acumen and commercial awareness including financial, economic, and regulatory issues.
