The Analytics Platforms & Experiences (APX) team is at the forefront of revolutionising Data Engineering. We drive significant increases in efficiency and productivity through a seamless ecosystem of frameworks and products that unlock observability, knowledge and data quality-driven orchestration at scale. APX is part of the broader Apple Services Engineering division that powers App Store, Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple Books, Fitness+, the iTunes Store and more. Our team Bridges Data Engineering with insights and analytics. We provide interactive data solutions that amplify the collective potential of datasets, enabling analytics and actionable insights. We’re expanding our reach with a new, innovative team based in Ireland, designed to propel our platforms into their next development phase. This role requires close collaboration with our established US West Coast and London teams. We focus on delivering innovative capabilities and anticipating future technological trends.

DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an inventive Engineering Manager to lead our new team in Ireland, focusing on elevating our observability and knowledge products. This role is central to increasing our product velocity through innovative CI/CD processes, ensuring high availability, and piloting new features. You will also extend the capabilities of our data engineering solutions, improving the agility and efficiency of systems that enable data exploration and insight sharing. * Strategic Collaboration: Forge strong connections with teams across Ireland, the US, and London to ensure flawless integration and alignment with our global strategy. Your leadership will foster a culture of open communication and shared standard methodologies, ensuring the team’s innovations contribute to our global objectives. * Scalability & Geo-Redundancy: Design systems that scale smoothly to meet growing demands while maintaining geo-redundant infrastructures that ensure continuous operation. * Innovative Feature Development: Lead efforts to test new features with selected customer groups, rapidly integrating feedback to improve product responsiveness and market relevance. * Enhanced Customer Experiences: Collaborate with international teams to expand our customer engagement strategies, optimising operations across different time zones for peak efficiency and satisfaction.

• Leadership and Management Experience: Demonstrated ability in leading and managing diverse teams, with a proven track record in encouraging cross-organizational collaboration to achieve high-impact results
• Advanced Distributed Systems: Expertise in architecting and refining distributed systems for enhanced availability and robustness. Skilled in introducing feature flighting to dynamically optimise product functionalities, along with developing metrics that inform continuous improvements
• Expertise in Data Platforms: Strong background in batch and streaming data processing technologies. Experience with Java, GoLang, Kubernetes, Kafka, Spark, Flink, Airflow, and ReactJS is highly desirable
• Customer-Centric Design: Outstanding ability to translate sophisticated customer needs into effective data platforms that evolve and scale to provide increasing value

• Strong experience with container orchestration tools, such as KubernetesBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficiency in high-level languages; Java and GoLang are preferred
• Familiarity with real-time data processing frameworks such as Kafka, Spark, and Flink
• Experience with workflow management tools like Apache Airflow
• Experience operating database and graph technologies, such as Snowflake, Clickhouse and ArangoDB
• Knowledge of front-end technologies, for example ReactJS
