MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategic Corporate Communications
In this position, you will help with:
- Crafting & executing strategy: Support the development and implementation of Cogeco’s external communications strategy to enhance our brand positioning and voice across North America. Boost Cogeco’s visibility and align with our business objectives.
- Amplifying the Brand Presence: Spearhead public relations and corporate communication initiatives that spotlight Cogeco’s purpose and priorities, leveraging earned media and thought leadership to build a strong, memorable employer brand.
- Crafting Executive Leadership: Support the design and execution of a strategic plan for executive thought leadership, creating compelling external messages for diverse communication platforms.
- Drive Results: Lead with data and insights and be the catalyst for elevating our external communications in a way that differentiates us from the competition and resonates powerfully with our target audiences.
- Elevate Brand Narrative: Enhance and reinforce our external narrative to ensure top-tier positioning and visibility, supporting brand initiatives and market presence.
- Maximize Impact: Evaluate and optimize communication elements for maximum effectiveness and influence.
- Collaborate: Work closely with the Communications, DEI, Community Relations, Regulatory, ESG, and Government Relations teams to enhance brand visibility, demonstrate commitment to communities, and promote our corporate social responsibility and vision. On top, oversee and coordinate the work of external collaborators and agency partners to ensure cohesive and impactful communications.
Public and Media Relations
- Implementation: Develop comprehensive public relations strategies and optimize participation in key business and social events, enhancing stakeholder relations.
- Content Strategy: Define and execute a multi-channel content strategy, tailoring messages for different platforms and audiences, including social media.
- Media Relations: Help in media relation engagement and management (Press interviews, public speaking and conferences etc..)
- Crisis Management: Develop and implement a robust crisis management plan to navigate challenges effectively.
- Executive Support: Prepare speeches and public presentations for Cogeco’s Executive Leaders and oversee media training and coaching.
Team Leadership
- Inspire & Guide: Lead, mentor, and develop the External Communications Advisors, fostering a high-performing team.
- Drive Excellence: Establish and drive best-in-class corporate communications practices, aligning goals with broader business strategies.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in business communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related field.
- Minimum 6 to 8 years of total experience with a proven track record in corporate communications, marketing and public relations, in Canada (required) and in the United States (is an asset), including 2+ years of employee management experience.
- Robust experience in the development of communication and media relations plans.
- Solid experience in providing strategic advice on communications and the management of issues.
- Solid experience as a company spokesperson.
- Financial communication experience with public companies is an asset.
- Knowledge of the telecommunications industry is an asset.
