SUMMARY

The Manager collaborates closely with the North America Field Training & Development (FTD) team, senior leaders in Operations and cross-functional teams to build world-class, fully integrated FTD programs from a strategic growth, performance measurement, and optimization perspective. The goal of the position is to enhance Precision as a leading-edge Company recognized for field operations development. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities, a deep understanding of adult learning principles, the ability to align training and development initiatives with business goals and operations experience.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Training, Education, OD or equivalent professional experience, preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • 8-10 years in the Drilling/Oil field industry, with trainer experience, building successful development and training programs. Could come from another industry that has best-in-class development and training programs
  • Managing development and/or related talent management
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs for field-based employees
  • Led initiatives and company-wide roll outs with success
  • Has partnered with operations to build high performing, high value teams
  • Proven success in evaluating trainers, trainees, training programs for their contribution to a business objective
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS), competency management systems (CMS) and e-learning tools
  • Intermediate level of competency with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Ability to travel to divisions/regions for rig sites

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Precision’s Field Training and Development Programs by driving the department strategies, overseeing all technical and operational training programs, administration development and providing leadership to Precision’s Best People strategy
  • Develop and maintain trust-based relationships with internal customers to deliver value to operations
  • Work with HSE, Human Resources and other operational leaders throughout the organization to assess skills & capabilities, develop requirements, and define the appropriate curriculum. This will include the development of frameworks, tools, and assessment methods, as needed/appropriate, for use by field operations to enhance their ability to perform and operate at optimum performance
  • Develop knowledge, skills and abilities of internal talent at the field operations level by leveraging best practices in areas of talent development, while applying a practical view to fit the current and future needs of the company and being creative given the size and resources available
  • Focused on the development of the process of assessment, development, and succession planning, with a primary focus on the field operations population
  • Lead project teams of staff, partners, affiliates, external advisors, and others to contribute to the development and delivery of learning
  • Provide budget inputs for expected incurred administrative and project costs
  • Assist other department personnel on on-going projects, events and course delivery
  • Oversee the implementation and management of Field Training and Development programs, ensuring consistency and quality across all field locations
  • Deliver classroom training and perform rig visits, as needed
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development to your team to ensure high performance and professional growth
  • Act as a liaison between the field and corporate office to ensure alignment and address training-related challenges
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in training and development
  • Oversee the integration of learning and competency management systems and metrics to measure effectiveness and success
  • Model and maintain Precision Key Beliefs, safety proposals, and other assigned duties
