Are you a dynamic finance professional with a passion for driving strategic financial outcomes in a global setting? We are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our team, supporting the Director of Global Finance Business Partnering for Corporate Functions/IT. In this key role, you will partner with corporate departments and other business units as we continue to evolve, playing a pivotal part in shaping financial strategies and outcomes.
The Opportunity
Cochlear has an opportunity for a Manager – Finance Business Partnering - based in our Macquarie, Sydney office. In this role, the successful Manager – Finance Business Partnering will be responsible for the strategic finance business partnering support to P&C function providing critical insights and analysis to drive business outcomes and will also support the long term strategic financial initiatives. They will be instrumental in developing financial plans, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring compliance with financial controls, all while partnering with senior management to support the organization’s growth and transformation objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the financial process for assigned business units, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Developing and tracking business cases, including establishing measurable benefits and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Supporting and improving the financial planning process, including monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and integrated business planning (IBP).
  • Maintaining and improving financial controls, ensuring compliance with Group Finance policies, tax legislation, and audit requirements.
  • Conducting ongoing financial analysis, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing insights to senior stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
  • Driving the financial appraisal of strategic plans, including the development of a 5-Year Plan (5YP) for global functions OPEX, with a focus on benchmarking and resource allocation.
  • Creating and implementing user pay models to enhance accountability, efficiency, and transparency across business functions.

About You. As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you’ll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Minimum:

  • Professional accounting qualifications or studying towards (eg - Chartered, CPA or CIMA)
  • 5-10 years commercial experience in a multinational organisation
  • Strong financial and business analysis skills in complex operating environments
  • Successful FP&A track record including budgeting/forecasts, management reports and analytics,
  • Working understanding of project accounting environment
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing policy, procedures and process governance,
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Confident dealing with a range of stakeholders (SVP’s, project managers, subject matter experts)
  • Strong in Microsoft Excel, attention to detail and advanced financial modelling
  • Good working knowledge of MS PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience in Tier 1 systems including ERP (Oracle or similar), BI (Hyperion or similar)

Ideal:

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
