Qualifications

  • College Degree or additional equivalent experience in airline operations
  • Previous Crew scheduling and/or CNM experience is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent command of Canadian Air Regulations (CARs) and pilot Collective Agreements (Mainline, Rouge, Cargo)
  • Excellent knowledge of Crew Scheduling systems (Netline, Communicator, ReportLink, etc.)
  • Must be able to work well independently with minimal supervision, and able to lead a crew scheduling team.
  • Very strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee crewing requirements for day-of-flight operations, ensuring strategic decision-making for OTP and flight completion across various operations, with a focus on proactive risk management.
  • Collaborate directly with OCMs to ensure solid operational decision-making using sound economic principles.
  • Ensure efficient pilot scheduling within the 48-hour window up to the end of the current block month.
  • Provide guidance and direction to Crew Network Managers, Crew Schedulers and Line Check Schedulers on the day-to-day operation of the Crew Scheduling function.
  • Ensure that Crew Schedulers assign pilots in accordance with all CARs regulations, contract rules and SOPs.
  • Utilize real-time data analytics to provide immediate decision support to SOC and other stakeholders during operational disruptions, contributing to swift and effective problem resolution.
  • Identify potential operational disruptions caused by crew issues and develop proactive risk mitigation plans to maintain operational integrity.
  • Lead and mentor Crew Network Managers, Crew Schedulers, and Line Check Schedulers fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Provide regular coaching sessions to enhance their skills and promote professional growth.
  • Manage unionized employees, ensuring compliance with collective agreements, addressing grievances, and ensuring adherence to work rules and regulations.
  • Manage actions to minimize pilot staffing costs by analyzing operational requirements and system reserve resources.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the Manager Operations, Crew Scheduling with the aim of facilitating necessary adjustments to improve the efficiency and productivity of pairings crafted by the Crew Resources Pairing Analyst team.
  • Solicit and develop suggestions for improving the Crew Scheduling function from various stakeholders.
  • Provide input to the Manager Operations, Crew Scheduling on all irregular operations with respect to crew impact and availability while supporting on-time performance, customer service and cost management.
  • Conduct performance assessments and ongoing coaching opportunities for Crew Network Managers, Crew Schedulers, and Line Check Schedulers.
