Guiding for the day-to-day operation of the Governance Services team, the Manager is a skilled leader overseeing the implementation of best practices and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies that direct and control the organization.
The Manager, Governance Services will work to design, develop, and facilitate the implementation of governance frameworks that support and advance CREB®’s Board of Directors and related standing committees, as well as CREB®’s REALTOR® Community Foundation and CREB®’s Critical Illness Benefits Society.
Committed to strong leadership, teamwork, collaboration, and the belief that we are most effective when we embrace and build on the collective strengths of our people, the Manager, Communications will guide the annual departmental business plan and budget for Governance Services, working to establish and successfully deliver on team goals – all in service to CREB®’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
Reporting to the Director, Communications and Governance, key responsibilities for the Manager, Governance Services include:
- Lead all aspects of talent management for direct reports.
- Guide staff and volunteer leaders on governance best practices and applicable policy and process.
- Serve as staff liaison and alternate to select Boards and committees.
- Collaborate closely with the Director, Communications & Governance to meet strategic governance needs and goals focused on building constructive relationships with governance volunteers.
- Collaborate closely with the Director, Communications & Governance on gap analysis assessment of governance structs and systems.
- Monitor societal and business issues pertinent to governance practices and principles and guidelines.
- Responsible for overseeing the development and execution of pro-active governance planning to ensure a pipeline of volunteer leaders and appropriate training and orientation is provided for new volunteers.
- Guide development, maintenance and consistent application of CREB®’s Governance Manual (CGM) for all Boards and committees.
- Works with legal counsel to manage recommendations and maintenance of governance policies.
