WHO WE ARE:
Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer-based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community’s capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities. We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events.
As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents. We assist Victoria Police in search and rescue operations, and play an important role in supporting the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), Parks Victoria and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) during major bushfire and emergency incidents.
Responsibilities:
This role is responsible for managing VICSES’s information governance, data capability and security posture, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and working with internal and external stakeholders. The key business areas of responsibility include the implementation and management of an information security management framework and related activities, (including for cyber, physical, technology and information – referred to as the ‘four pillars’ of security).
This role reports to the Chief Information Officer, but will be required to work independently, advising the Executive Management Team regarding privacy, data, and security matters. This extends to the management and advice of any Freedom of Information requests, the management of the organisations Policy and Procedure library, the management of reported alleged data access and security breaches and assistance with breach investigations.
Supporting the organisation’s Crisis Management Team, the role will be the primary leader and manager of information security incidents, including for cyber.
The role is required to maintain relationships and provide reports, plans and attestations, on behalf of the organisation to key internal and external stakeholders including the VICSES Board, the VICSES Risk & Audit Committee, the Information Governance and Security Committee, relevant Victorian Government agencies including the Department Justice Community Services, Emergency Management Victoria, Department of Government Services (varied departments), the Public Records of Victoria, the Office of Victorian Information, Victorian Government Procurement Board, etc.
