About the Role:
Are you an experienced, methodical event strategist? Are you interested in coaching and mentoring a team of event experts? The Corporate Marketing team has a new opportunity to support FTI Consulting’s key marketing programs and go-to-market strategy through a powerful corporate events program. The Manager, Marketing & Events will manage all aspects of external and internal events, from planning and development to execution and post-event follow-up, in collaboration with cross-functional and segment teams and client-facing professionals across the business. This person will own the event strategy for the Corporate Marketing team and will play an active role in developing a Center of Excellence model that can support strategic goals for each event. This position will report to the Senior Director, Global Marketing Operations and will have two direct reports.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage all aspects of external and internal events, from planning and development to execution and post-event follow-up, in collaboration with the events and marketing teams and client-facing professionals
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Director, Global Marketing Operations on building out a Center of Excellence model that can seamlessly deliver high-quality event execution and strategic support across the business
  • Aid in the development and evolution of the events team structure, working with other business segments to determine what the growth trajectory looks like for the next 2-4 years
  • Develop and execute an annual event strategy, building proposals and coordinating across segments and regions to create a coordinated approach to high-level sponsorships
  • Manage a team of event experts, delegating responsibilities and acting as a coach to help address career aspirations on an ongoing basis
  • Develop success measures to evaluate all major events against objectives, including recommending areas for improvement
  • Oversee and administer the event and sponsorship planning and implementation process, including event themes, project management, managing budgets, creating timelines and project plans and leading planning meetings to drive toward event goals
  • Work with in-house design staff to develop creative and compelling event themes
  • Work with in-house communications team to develop speeches/presentations, social media and PR/press plans to leverage and promote relevant events
  • Develop and manage event timelines, communicating deadlines and assignments to marketing staff and external vendors, as necessary
  • Utilize Cvent to run reports, manage lists, and track RSVPs, attendance, follow-up, etc.
  • Solicit proposals from, and conduct site visits and inspections for potential event properties, including hotels and resorts, restaurants, bar/lounges, and special event spaces
  • Conduct post-event evaluations/scorecards, including client and participant satisfaction and ROI, establishing appropriate budget management and tracking in financial and expense systems
  • Negotiate contracts for venues, caterers, and other vendors and suppliers, working closely with the procurement team to ensure compliance
  • Utilize data from past events to enact changes to improve future results; maintain documentation of events for future reference
  • Build and maintain a global network of preferred vendor relationships and third-party resources
  • Continuously implement best practices, policies and workflow procedures to ensure the efficient and effective execution of all events

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
  • 3+ years of post-graduate events and marketing experience
  • Ability to travel to clients and FTI Office(s) as needed
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency with event management tools (Cvent, Splash, Eloqua, Salesforce)
  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • Experience coaching and managing direct reports or functional teams
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills and high attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills
