Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Wealth Shelf Management, the incoming Manager will be a dedicated resource supporting the Model Risk Management (MRM) Compliance effort for the Risk Rating System. The Risk Rating System assigns risk ratings to all securities in the Wealth Securities Database and is an integral part of the Know Your Product and suitability assessment required by Client Focused Reforms.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:
- Expertise within the Canadian investment dealer industry along with developments/challenges/opportunities facing investment dealers and clients.
- Ability to take initiative and produce results either through independent work or collaborating effectively with a diverse team.
- Aptitude to communicate and confidently interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to gather and share relevant industry product due diligence developments and provide a fact-based opinions and recommendations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Work with the Wealth Platform partners and other SMIR team members to map the full Risk Rating process workflow, upstream and downstream dependencies/impacts, and understand the nuances of the implemented methodology logic.
- Thoroughly test the implemented logic to identify potential defects and/ or ensure alignment with the intended framework and document findings.
- Review existing and develop new monitoring procedures and controls for the Risk Rating process.
- Work with the Model Development Risk (MRM) to understand their compliance requirements, draft the Risk Rating Model Development Report and collect the required evidence for submission to the MRM.
- Work with the MRM team to help them validate the model by addressing their follow up questions and implement their recommendations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Undergraduate degree and 5+ years of relevant experience
- Proficient with data, data infrastructure and experienced in developing new data processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with risk modeling/ model validation is preferred.
- Knowledge of the investment industry and its products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build and manage relationships with multiple internal stakeholders.
- CFA designation or CFA candidacy is preferred but not required.
