Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
This job will be a critical member of Delta Dental’s Network Development leadership team with responsibility for overseeing the Provider Contracting day to day operations and the direct management, development and growth of the Provider Contracting staff. This leader must develop new and cultivate existing relationships with providers, internal business partners across the enterprise, local dental societies/dental associations as well as manage all provider recruitment focused events.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience required with a Bachelor’s degree or years of work experience equivalent; 1+ years of experience supervisory/management required.
- 2+ years in a Network Development/Provider Relations position with experience in a managed care plan, preferred.
- Proven ability to build and lead cross-functional and self-directed teams.
- Strong organizational skills including strategic delegation, people-management skills, collaboration, and business analysis skills.
- Excellent professional writing, editing, speaking and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong consultative, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication, problem resolution and critical thinking skills with proven ability to influence and collaborate with providers and business partners at all levels.
- Ability to interpret various forms of information, including key information about marketplace and provider perceptions.
- Serves as a communication link between providers and the company.
- Ability to effectively interface with employees at all levels.
- Knowledge of Current Dental Terminology ("CDT") codes and dental nomenclature is preferred.
- Knowledge of enterprise’s processing policies and guidelines for dental procedures, limitation and exclusions is a plus.
- Ability to prepare business roadmaps, prepare and manage budgets.
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback and/or industry related feedback.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately share information on a need to know basis.
- Ability to operate in an environment of rapidly changing priorities.

Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $80,500 - $174,300
Responsibilities:
- Manages Provider Contracting staff to achieve department objectives including determining staffing needs, setting goals, interviewing, selecting, coaching, and evaluating the performance of all direct reports.
- Actively engages in professional/personal development; brings enthusiasm, passion and energy to the position.
- Creates and implements tools and programs to help the Provider Contracting team members become more effective in recruiting and contracting provider network.
- Plans, develops, coordinates, collaborates and implements provider recruitment strategies. Assesses the effectiveness of the materials and assists in updating/creating materials that will improve our recruitment and contracting of providers. Guides and coaches a team to manage territories and strategies and coordinates with the Marketing and Sales Teams to further the strategic network development.
- Evaluates recruitment efforts and communicates findings to key stakeholders. Incorporates feedback and modifies processes to adopt enhanced practices as appropriate.
- Experience with provider contracting and reimbursement negotiation strategies.
- Participates on assigned committees and Sales meetings to provide ongoing feedback using market conditions, industry trends, and provider insights.
- Compiles and analyzes statistical and competitor information.
- Develops, monitors, and reconciles an annual operating plan and budget.
