Description:

Position Title: Manager of Information Technology and Systems
Posting Number: #24-76
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Union: BCGEU (Excluded)
Compensation: $80k - $100k Commensurate with Experience
Schedule: 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday (75 hours bi-weekly)

I. DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO SERVE AS A KNOWLEDGEABLE IT RESOURCE TO THE ORGANIZATION, INCLUDING:

  • Lead and manage the IT team, providing guidance, training, and support;
  • Ensure the integrity, security, and availability of IT systems and infrastructure;
  • Assess and anticipate technology needs and recommend suitable solutions based on user needs and budget constraints;
  • Plan, organize, control, and evaluate IT life-cycle in collaboration with IT contractor;
  • acting as primary agency contact for Pacifica employees for general IT issues including network, computer, software, internet, cell phone, office phone, printer and scanners system; Manage relationships with external vendors, ensuring service level agreements are met. (IT support services, office phone system, mobile phones and teleconference services);
  • liaising with the contracted IT providers to address issues as they arise or to revise services;
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with IT service providers and suppliers;
  • Manage IT projects, including the implementation of new systems, upgrades, and migration;
  • managing internal e-mail distribution lists and e-mail accounts;
  • maintaining Pacifica’s IT assets inventory in collaboration with IT contractor;
  • Oversee the helpdesk operations to ensure timely and effective support for end-user;
  • receiving requests from staff for changes to hardware/software/configuration and delivering approved requests either by their own action or by tasking 3rd party resources;
  • Manage Pacifica’s document management system ensuring that all electronic documents are stored, archived, and retrieved efficiently and securely;
  • maintaining Pacifica Housing’s website;
  • insuring that backs up are completed on a regular basis; and
  • managing Kantech/SALTO key fob system.

QUALIFICATIONS: (MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS):

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related program.
  • Related certifications such as PMP and CISSP would be considered an asset

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years related experience (must include IT/ computer science experience)
  • Experience with and knowledge of related software programs preferable (i.e. Microsoft Office particularly Excel, Yardi, WordPress)
  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop the IT Department
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems

Responsibilities:

2. COMPLETING TECHNICAL TASKS:

  • computer systems Tier 1 problem resolution:
    o problems that can be resolved by email or phone;

o application support, liaising with vendors as necessary;

  • some computer systems Tier 2 problem resolution:

o problems affecting an individual that require in-person attention or equivalent remote support tools;
o desktop hardware troubleshooting and problem resolution (workstations, laptops, monitors, thin clients, printers);

o desktop hardware installation/moves (workstations, laptops, monitors, thin clients, printers);

  • user account and permissions management;
  • support for office phone and fax system, liaising with contractor as necessary;
  • support for mobile phones, liaising with service providers as necessary.

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR ROLE:

  • Must have access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s licence, and willing to acquire business class insurance.
    As Pacifica Housing works with vulnerable populations, We require all staff to successfully clear a Vulnerable Sectors Criminal Record Check run by the Ministry of Justice. Any offer of employment is contingent on the applicant providing proof of criminal record check prior to commencing employment.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager of Information Technology and Systems will be responsible for:

  • Managing and maintaining Pacifica Housing’s IT infrastructure and systems
  • Ensuring Pacifica’s diverse and geographically distributed staff has access to Pacifica’s information technology and systems required to perform their jobs including training and continued support
