Description:
360°kids is a vitally important community agency serving all of York Region. We have been a leader in the delivery of innovative support services for more than 35 years as we work to improve the lives of unhoused and marginalized youth and families in York Region. At 360°kids, we provide a unique continuum of care approach with programs and services that are essential to the health and well-being of youth. These proven strategies help to keep youth safe by providing stable housing options with 360° wraparound supports.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Manager of Research and Evaluation will ensure 360°kids Programs meet operational objectives and achieve strategic goals by completing audits; preparing and completing action plans; keeping track of funder evaluations and monitoring requirements, designing data collection tools, collecting and analyzing data, report writing, identifying and resolving problems; determining system improvements and implementing change.
The Manager of Research and Evaluation must have a strong base of coordination and technical skills that can be flexibly adapted to meet the needs of many different internal and external stakeholders. Planning and carrying out planned research and evaluation initiatives to support evidenced-based decision making is central to the role. Management of research grants, and providing technical expertise are also part of the role.
EDUCATION /SKILL REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work or Child/youth related field (e.g., Child and Youth, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years management experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
- Sufficient experience to demonstrate extensive knowledge of working with street involved youth.
- Familiarity with the tools, concepts, and methodologies of quality management and a strong understanding of the regulatory environment.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
- Car and valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Must possess strong leadership skills, motivation, delegation, coaching/ mentoring, and empowerment skills.
- Thorough understanding of the issues in dealing with youth.
- Interpersonal skills, including influencing, consensus/team building, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to encourage/stimulate new ideas within the program areas and organization.
- Strong communication skills including public speaking and presentations.
- Relationship building skills to support relationships with managers, peers within the industry, and stakeholders.
- Strong personal ethics and integrity; ability to motivate and manage others.
- Thorough knowledge of human behavior especially as it relates to effective personal functioning.
- Ability to articulate and promote the vision for the programs.

Responsibilities:
- In consultation with the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Manager (s) develops, directs, and implements agreed upon in-house quality procedures, standards and specifications that will result in the achievement of the 360°kids’ goals and objectives.
- In conjunction with the Management team sets client service standards, establishes methods to accurately evaluate those standards across programming.
- Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders in the creation and facilitation of effective partnerships and will work with the Management Team to ensure effective integration of all programs.
- Provide expertise in the design of program evaluations and survey instruments and tools, analysis of data collected and the development of reports including program recommendations.
- Review and assess required program outputs, outcomes and tracking methods to ensure they are aligned with funder requirements and the 360°kid’s strategic priorities.
- Support the development and management of projects and programs that demand a variety of qualitative, quantitative data to help inform strategies, performance objectives, and program results.
- Oversees and conducts research projects that supports industry best practices and the development of new programs and services.
- Achieves in-house quality standards by completing program audits, statistical analysis, identifying and resolving problems.
- Meets quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements needed to run programing; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions and controls.
- Determines training needs of the organization by assessing gaps and developing and implementing training programs to address those needs.
- Reporting the training needs to the HR Director and COO, working collaboratively to address these needs.
- Provides leadership to a diverse staff team including recruitment and selection, training, development, and retention to ensure ongoing competent, experienced, and effective management of the Research and Evaluation department.
- Manages for high performance focusing on empowering staff, team building, coaching/mentoring, and motivation of employees.
- Recording, analyzing, and distributing statistical information to the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, other designated organizations, and appropriate regulatory agencies.
- Updates job knowledge by studying trends and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Writes performance measurement documents, evaluation plans, evaluation questions and reports and contributes to proposals for funding.
