EDUCATION:

Bachelors degree in Engineering, Sciences or Business (with a focus on Operations Management)

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 6 years’ experience within the Pharmaceutical industry
Minimum 3 years previous supervisory experience
Experience and training in Lean Six Sigma and OE (Black belt Certification preferred)
Equivalency:
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Strong analytical skills. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Strong communication skills – verbal, written and presentation. Ability to work with and influence a wide range of levels within the organization. Ability to establish positive working relationships. Ability to think and work at strategic level as well as at a tactical project level. Strong customer focus and drive for results with strong problem-solving abilities. Capable of setting clear priorities, organizing work, and making quality decisions in a fast-paced business setting. Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Proficiency with the English Language.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Light physical effort and fatigue. Walks, sits or stands for limited periods. May require occasional equipment operation including keyboard equipment. Lifts light items for limited duration. Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odours, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights. Use of Personal Protective equipment may be required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator on occasionally.

• Lead Operational Diagnostics: Analyzes/defines operational opportunities within site operations; conducts detailed operational, value stream and financial analyses, interviews key personnel, and observe operational systems as directed by the Director, PPI Business System.
• Based on assessment of opportunities, create specific proposals for operational improvement projects, including a cost-benefit analysis.
• Create and implement a sustained PPI culture through working closely with staff to ensure all personnel have a deep understanding of PPI benefits.
• Lead projects and Mini T’s ensuring desired objectives are met.
• Develop processes and systems to ensure improvements are sustained.
• Maintain projects on time and on budget, reporting to the Director, PPI, managing expectations and risk while ensuring post implementation benefits are realized.
• Provide coaching and support to Site Managers, Supervisors, and other project team members.
• Build relationships with site operations team to understand various departments objectives and priorities to develop supporting improvement initiatives.
• Stay abreast of new developments in improvement methodology and best practices within operational excellence.
• Mentorship and coaching of PPI secondments.
• Work with corporate PPI and other Thermo Fisher sites in the network to harmonize practices and bring in the latest PPI improvements practices (and Technology)
• Promote a safe working environment, report potential hazards, and ensure all direct reports follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
• Select, develop, and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Work with and advise staff on administrative policies and procedures.
