Description:

We have an immediate opening for a Sr. Manager, Operations for the Langley Helicopter MRO & Modifications facility within the Helicopter Business Unit. This position will be based out of the Langley, British Columbia facility and will report to the General Manager, Langley. This exciting opportunity as a member of the site’s senior team to lead all aspects of the aircraft maintenance operations, including responsibility for the management of the maintenance, structures, avionics, composite, and paint shops.

APPLICABLE QUALIFICATIONS, ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES ARE:

  • At least 10 years aviation experience, preferably in helicopter maintenance, structures and avionics, with 5 years in a management or supervisory experience.
  • Experience working and leading in highly regulated environments, preferably with project-based workflows.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, management, sales, customer service, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of production management ERP systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow company instructions, company processes, administrative policies and procedures, and export compliance regulations.
  • Post-secondary degree in engineering, business administration, or related discipline would be an asset.
  • Results oriented with experience in Lean, Six Sigma and/or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Technical background in MRO of Airbus and Bell helicopters would be an asset.
  • Transport Canada AME License or equivalent would be an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Management and supervision of shops (maintenance, structures, avionics, composites, paint), and planning and delegating of all activities on helicopter airframes, components, parts, and other aeronautical product.
  • Responsible for authorization, approvals, and qualifications for facility, AMEs, technicians, and apprentices to perform work on aeronautical product, including ACA and SCA authorities
  • Oversight of access and control of secure airport areas and flight line, including designated apron areas, taxiways, and others at CYNJ airport within the business’ scope of responsibility.
  • Championing a strong safety culture throughout the shop, including reporting of incidents and near misses.
  • Ensuring compliance with company, regulatory (TCCA), and quality (AS9110) standards for all work performed under the AMO, including maintenance, repair, testing, prototyping, fabrication, and manufacturing.
  • Responsibility for business unit financial goals including profit & loss through management of estimating, costing, tracking, and monitoring of MRO activities.
  • Liaising closely cross-functionally with Customer Service, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and other internal teams as required to ensure on-time, on-budget, and high-quality deliverables to customers.
  • Establishing and implementing plans, policies, and procedures needed to achieve the business unit’s short- and long-term strategic goals.
  • Performing capacity planning for equipment & tooling, scheduling, inventory management, floor space, and headcount requirements in accordance with forecasted workloads.
  • Exercising authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as customers, vendors, regulatory authorities, auditors, partners, and others.
  • Working with Sales and Technical Sales on accurate and timely quoting/estimating of projects and any other sales, marketing and business development initiatives in support of business growth.
  • Drive process improvement to optimize productivity and efficiency through continuous improvement of techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, plant performance measures, and others.
