The Manager, Operations, Standards & Compliance manages the programs and staff that support medical operations to ensure efficient, effective, and safe healthcare delivery while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manages, evaluates, and executes operational standards and procedures to ensure safety and continuity of medical operations.
- Analyzes the operational variances that arise with healthcare delivery in a dynamic transport environment to effectively meet the operational needs of frontline staff, resolve issues and ensure efficient operations.
- Reviews Incident and Investigation Reports to identify opportunities for improvement, makes recommendations and oversees implementation of actions to improve operational performance, staff, and patient safety.
- Manages the Paramedic Standards budget, including evaluating existing program needs and resources and forecasting future needs based on strategic organizational direction.
- Analyzes medical operations policies to ensure compliance with government regulations and Performance Agreement requirements.
- Leads and oversees the routine inter-departmental review of policies to ensure timely updates based on changing regulatory frameworks and organizational needs, and ensure alignment, and integration of policies across departments.
- Develops and implements metrics to ensure policy compliance by staff and supports implementation of tools and frameworks for compliance monitoring and reporting.
- Oversees and manages various programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and performance agreement requirements.
- Analyzes project, workflow, procedural and equipment-related changes and assess the need and scope of formalized change management initiatives.
- Manages Operations support staff to ensure regulatory compliance for both operating certificates (Air and CCLA).
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of combined experience of active frontline clinical practice and operations management in a unionized environment, experience with air or land ambulance or acute care hospital setting preferred.
- Budgeting and contract experience.
- Labour relations experience.
- Experience leading complex accreditation reviews by government or third-party accrediting organizations.
- Project management experience in a healthcare or aviation setting.
- Experience understanding, analyzing, and applying complex regulatory frameworks.
- Flight experience or an understanding of the aviation environment and underlying support services.
- Emergency medical services experience with an understanding of EMS environment and the intricacies of supporting a large geographical operations footprint.
