DESCRIPTION
This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).
In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this position has a comprehensive benefits package and an annual salary range of $73,882 - $123,130.
Location - Work primarily takes place at Enterprise Square.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years of progressive financial and accounting management experience.
- More than 3 years of proven leadership experience in managing financial operations in a large and complex organization.
- Recognized professional designation in accounting or finance.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build consensus, inspire teams, and foster collaborative partnerships.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on mitigating risks and achieving organizational goals.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive financial matters.
- Adaptability to dynamic work environments, with a proactive approach to providing solution-focused feedback.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior leadership experience in a post-secondary or similar complex environment is preferred.
- Prior leadership experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Experience working with large ERP systems, such as PeopleSoft Financials, is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing corporate credit card programs, supplier payments, and procurement processes.
- Strong understanding of asset management, including inventory reconciliation and compliance with GST/HST legislation.
- Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps.

Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership to the Payment & Compliance Services team, ensuring timely and accurate financial processing, including payments to suppliers, staff, and non-employees.
- Develop and implement operational plans to enhance the efficiency and integrity of financial processes, aligning them with organizational goals.
- Lead and manage the corporate credit card program, including oversight of card issuance, limit adjustments, cancellations, and transaction reconciliation.
- Ensure compliance with PCI standards across payment processes and provide training to staff to uphold these standards.
- Oversee vendor account maintenance, support procurement processes, and ensure adherence to procurement policies and contracts.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to address internal control issues and resolve disputes related to financial operations, escalating as necessary.
- Analyze the impact of decisions on business operations, staff, students, and external stakeholders, providing regular updates and recommendations to the Director.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement (i.e. automation) by leveraging technology, such as PeopleSoft, SupplyNet, and other tools, to optimize workflows.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners to foster collaboration and alignment with institutional objectives.
- Support the Director in strategic planning, policy development, and financial management to ensure alignment with the University’s long-term goals.
