  • Strong background in large scale facilities and utilities energy use and energy management
  • Experience with design and development of impactful buildings retrofits and new construction
  • Experience with small scale renewable energy projects (solar, geothermal).
  • Experience in working with utility metering or sub metering
  • Solid understanding of carbon accounting and reporting standards
  • Ability to effectively maintain and lead operating and/or capital budgets
  • Ability to think strategically and with a customer centric focus
  • Ability to work with a unionized staff and ensuring compliance to safety and training
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills including sound reasoning and judgment
  • Ability to work in stressful situations while meeting multiple demands
  • Excellent Organizational Skills (planning, goal setting, prioritizing, scheduling)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong technical proficiency and/or experience related to the types of systems to be maintained
  • Ability to motivate staff and achieve desired results
  • Thorough knowledge and proficiency with computers, MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and/or external partners
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities:

  • University and/or post-secondary education in electrical engineering or applied science and/or equivalent experience
  • Certified energy manager (CEM), Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) or a licensed professional engineer in the province of Ontario or professionally designated as a certified engineering technician or technologist or 5 years’ experience in power distribution systems
  • 5+ years’ experience in power system distribution
  • 3+ years’ energy conservation, energy analysis and/or energy conservation projects experience
  • Previous experience in utility metering and sub metering would be an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in People Management (direct report or cross-functional)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment
  • Able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position
