We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Manager, Procurement (Supplies) to join our Merchandising team in Langley, BC.
Reporting to the Director, Procurement, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of all regularly used supplies within the retail grocery environment. You will be managing the cost of goods and developing processes and procedures that drive efficiency and consistency across the organization.

You will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and managing the procurement of all essential retail store supplies.
  • Developing and implementing company-wide procurement and inventory control processes for store supplies.
  • Leading the development of vendor strategies to meet banner needs and spearheading banner review meetings to identify leverage opportunities and synergies.
  • Driving significant cost savings and operational efficiencies by negotiating favorable supplier terms and coordinating purchases across diverse operations.
  • Collaborating with other internal departments to understand supply requirements and ensure informed decision making at critical points.
  • Identifying opportunities for synergies across banners and consolidating data to prioritize key areas.
  • Managing the approved budget, focusing on achieving financial targets.
  • Recommending preferred category vendors based on banner listings and data analysis.
  • Analyzing suppliers’ performance and proactively managing the introduction, discontinuation, and optimization of items within the category.
  • Communicating key metrics and insights across banners to ensure alignment.
  • Addressing vendor concerns with a focus on prompt resolution and satisfaction.
  • Attending trade shows and industry events to stay updated on innovative, profitable solutions and emerging trends.

You have:

  • A post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related field is considered an asset.
  • 5 years of merchandising and procurement experience with extensive expertise in supporting operations and applying business solutions within a retail environment.
  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting financial data, including budgets and profit/loss statements, with strong business acumen.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to organize and execute both short- and long-term plans.
  • Experience in negotiating vendor contracts with a focus on achieving favorable outcomes.
