The Product Development Manager will collaborate with Marketing, Regulatory and Operations teams under the Director of Product Development. They will oversee the development and execution of color and skincare projects, with a strong focus on driving next idea innovation to create high-quality vegan beauty products that align with the brand’s positioning and sales strategy, requiring minimal supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5+ years of cosmetics product development experience required
- Proficient understanding of formulation guidelines and technical expertise
- In-depth and holistic understanding of the specific details of the Product Development process from concept to launch
- An understanding of the luxury beauty space is preferred, but not required
- Deep understanding and strong eye for color lineups/stories and new product innovation formats and formulas
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationships, and communicate (written and oral) with all levels of management, cross-functional teams, and vendors
- Must be able to work from Corporate Office at least 60% of the time.
The expected base salary range for this position is $88,000 to $93,000. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget.
This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan, based on personal performance and company results.

Responsibilities:
- Drive day-to-day development of all new color cosmetic and skincare launches (~100 new skus per year) including technical transfers and shade extensions
- Manage all open new projects to ensure all work is progressing according to the established timeline and weekly meetings with Project Manager
- Develop color stories/lineups and creative strategy that aligns with brand business goals
- Prepare and present color proposal presentation decks to executive team and other key stakeholders
- In collaboration with team, responsible for completing thorough PowerPoint competitive overviews at the end of each month, highlighting any relevant trends in color, formula, and packaging and new product launches. Include a section on how these competitive products/trends can relate to Hourglass Innovation
- Partner closely with Product Development Director in a deep dive analysis of current category assortments and innovation opportunities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Regulatory, Creative, Ops, etc.) to ensure formula development is aligned with global compliancy, brand strategy and aesthetics
- Lead weekly vendor/cross-functional meetings for current/future developments and recap meeting notes
- Support team in coordinating product samples for photoshoots, retailers, and marketing needs
- Brief vendors on new product concepts and schedule meetings with for new innovation presentations
- Partner closely with Marketing and Copy teams to craft the language and positioning of new product launches based on Hourglass brand cues, luxury competition and vendor information
- Partner with Packaging, Regulatory, and Quality Assurrance to identify testing parameters for new and tech transferred formulas and initiate product stability with CM’s as needed
- Orchestrate internal test panel groups for all new launches and tech transfer formulas (from organization of testing samples to survey design to data analyzation)
- Oversee incoming batch approval submissions, working closely with Quality team
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of Hourglass’ calendar, strategy, and innovation opportunities
- Attend industry trade shows/vendor presentations as needed
