Business Overview

Position Details
Summary
This job is responsible for leading and organizing the Wackersdorf production and logistics department to ensure the on-time delivery of the products to our customers. The manager delegates or executes the external or internal order creation in the ERP system and takes care of the required assembly and packing equipment to guarantee a smooth production flow.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and development of the production and logistics team
  • Coordination and monitoring of customer orders and project related assemblies and the reporting of the status
  • Responsible for production and logistics referred processes and their optimization
  • External communication of manufacturing states to our customers and business partners
  • Prepare and manage the annual stock taking of our inventory
  • Participation and implementation of trainings to keep the product quality ensured
  • Takes care of procurement or development for new production and logistics tools and equipment
  • Documentation and evaluations of throughput times to get in combinations with the material price the manufacturing costs
  • Ensuring health and safety protocols of machinery and equipment
  • Managing warehouse inventory and keeping records

General Tasks

  • Maintain strict compliance with the quality, environmental and occupational health and safety regulations and implementation of the instructions of the quality, environmental management and/or occupational health and safety officer.
  • The People Leader is responsible for maintaining and improving environmental-friendly and occupational health and safety work conditions, the prevention of environmental damage and occupational accidents, occupational diseases and work-related health hazards for his or her area of responsibility.Specific tasks include, but are not limited to, protecting the environment, completion of job hazard analysis and risk assessments, and conducting job-specific training.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of mechanical/electrical engineering, electro-mechanics, optics or similar
  • Preferred 7+ years of experience in engineering/production/operations-related positions; ideally in the laser industries
  • Preferred 3+ years of experience of proven team leadership experience
  • Strong experience in working with ERP Systems (Preferably SAP/Oracle)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Structured working style and the ability to lead multiple projects and schedules in parallel
  • Knowledge in the logistics / transportation field and their regulations
  • Very good German and English language skills for the communication within the Germany and EMEA based teams

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel to customers or to other Novanta sites is required on a need by basis
