POSITION SUMMARY

Magellan Aerospace, Corporate has an exciting new opportunity for a Manager, Projects (Continuous Improvement and Quality). The Projects Manager will participate, as member of the corporate management team, in formulating and establishing a project management strategy and supporting policies to ensure projects are managed and executed effectively. Projects include quality performance initiatives, operational and transactional efficiency improvements, new product introduction, introduction of new technology; first of a kind application, etc. The individual will provide project management oversight and direction to assigned team members, understanding the importance of all aspects of the business: quality, engineering, manufacturing, customer interests, supply and delivery of raw material, costs, support functions, etc. The individual will apply project management, quality management, and continuous improvement tools and methods, in line with recognized principles and techniques, and develop appropriate training for large and small project teams.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years of proven experience in leading projects ideally in aerospace, involving multi-site, cross-functional teams.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing technical personnel and cross-functional teams within engineering or technical operations.
  • Degree in Engineering and/or Business-Related program
  • Project Management accreditation (e.g., PMP designation)
  • 6 Sigma Black Belt is an asset
  • Quality Management System auditor certification is an asset
  • Previous experience within the aerospace manufacturing industry is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems.
  • Varied multi-disciplined experience.
  • Business Acumen; Team building skills; Critical thinking & Problem-solving skills; Conflict management; Timely decision-making.
  • Proficient business communication (both written and oral)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Computer literate (MS Office, MS Project, Excel)

  • The ability to coordinate activities inter-company and with multiple departments such as Engineering, Operations, Accounting, Sales, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in the management of projects. Liaise with all departments, manage cross-functional teams and create, track and manage current projects. Hold all resource allocated to the project accountable for their roles and responsibilities to ensure the program runs on time and to budget.
  • Analyze metrics to effect performance improvement in the areas of Quality, Operational Excellence, EHS and makes recommendations.
  • Responsible for the on-time and on-budget completion of all customer deliverables for the project and tracking of all costs associated with project including material, processing costs, tooling, gauges, and customer owned tooling for cost recovery where applicable.
  • Maintain effective communication with all disciplinesand lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams. May assist in various job duties of the Product, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineering disciplines to support the team members in completion of critical path tasks and/or workload sharing.
  • Ensure the plant team’s participation in the development and understanding of the production process so they may successfully maintain the process after launch.
  • Ensure the NPI process is followed and all gate reviews are achieved and managed, including the timely completion of Engineering trials, production pilots, and PPAP runs with Manufacturing and Engineering. Facilitate internal activities and customer approvals to obtain a successful PPAP submission.
  • Ensure regular product and project reviews including:
  • Cross -functional Product Launch Team meetings to review the program schedule and assign resources to address any open issues. Identify program risks and establish suitable contingency plans with the team.
  • Senior management team updates against current plans, budgets, resource and risks.Status of gate reviews to the senior management team and the customer.
  • Update with the customer to ensure all their program related inquiries and requirements are addressed.
  • Ensure all project managers and resources allocated to the project are trained. Continue to develop the businesses project management procedures and processes.
