Responsibilities:
MŌ TĒNEI TŪRANGA - ABOUT THE ROLE
Working within the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), as a key member of the EPMO Leadership Team, your role plays a vital part in supporting our national property team with delivery of complex capital projects, ensuring our fire stations, training facilities, depots and other property assets are protecting and enabling front line firefighters.
Reporting to the National Manager, EPMO, you will lead and be accountable for a geographically spread team of six, delivering new capital projects and managing project delivery contracts. Operating as a project director, you will coach and guide team members to meet delivery targets and actively identify and mitigate risks, in a supportive learning environment. You will ensure any major refurbishments and new builds are developed with the principles of safety, resilience, and comfort at the forefront of your approach. In this role you will be working closely with the National Manager Property, regional property teams and regularly interact with both user and specialist roles to deliver quality project outcomes.
KO TĀU NĀ I TĒNEI TŪRANGA - WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
You will have extensive and demonstrable senior level experience in managing teams delivering projects, across geographically dispersed locations. Significant experience in property contract management and procurement processes, including experience using NZS3910 and CCCS is required. You will be adept at managing building and property projects from initiation to completion and proficient in project management methodologies and tools, government procurement requirements, and health, safety and value engineering.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, WE’D EXPECT YOU WILL HAVE:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Significant experience in successful delivery of projects and project delivery contracts in property and land development is required, ideally from client side.
- Project director or programme manager experience of overseeing a portfolio of work.
- Experience managing optimal performance of others in delivering projects, and the ability to coaching teams to build competence.
- Experience and understanding of property-related delivery including asbestos and contamination risks, natural hazard risk, construction H&S management, consent processes and applications.
- High levels of stakeholder engagement experience and expertise
- Solid writing and documentation skills and attention to detail, ideally with experience of drafting governance papers
- Experience in procurement planning for central or local government
- A project management qualification (eg PMP, CCP or similar) is desirable
