Overview of the Role
Reporting to the Saskatoon Plant Manager this position is responsible to conduct and administer fiscal operations, including accounting, planning budgets, authorizing expenditures, establishing rates for services, and coordinating financial reporting for the QA department;
Salary
$101,720.00 - $127,150.00

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of employees working in the QA department;
  • Maintain communication between all the departmental heads by attending meetings and coordinating interdepartmental functioning;
  • Plan, implement and administer programs and services in the lab, including personnel administration, training, and coordination of the staff;
  • Direct or conduct recruitment, hiring and training of personnel;
  • Establish work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space and equipment availability;
  • Manage the systems for testing raw ingredients for maturity or stability for processing and finished products for safety, quality, and nutritional value;
  • Confer with plant manager, production manager, maintenance manager, sales and marketing specialists to resolve problems in product development and product quality;
  • Develop food standards and production specifications, safety and sanitary regulations;
  • Develop, manage and implement procedures to ensure compliance with government regulations and customer requirements/ standards for sanitation, safety, and quality;
  • Study methods to improve aspects of foods, such as chemical composition, flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, and convenience;
  • Demonstrate products to clients;
  • Test new products for flavor, texture, color, nutritional content, and adherence to government and industry standards;
  • Hold employees accountable for complying with all facility Health & Safety requirements and provincial regulations. Unsafe acts and conditions must be immediately addressed;
  • Provide appropriate instruction for safe work;
  • Advise workers of the existence of any potential or Health & Safety risks;
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety issues/concerns are investigated and reported to respective personnel;
  • Complete 1 Safety Talk per month;
  • Ensure that appropriate protective devices are provided and also maintained in safe condition;
  • Ensure that all protective device(s) on the equipment or materials are intact and un tampered with;
  • Provide appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts;
  • Other duties as assigned.
