We are seeking a Manager, Quality I to join our team in Oakville, ON.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field;
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in quality management within a custom machining or manufacturing environment, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, ISO 17025 standards, including hands-on experience with audit processes and maintaining certification compliance.
  • Proficiency in using measurement tools and gauges to inspect machined parts and features, using equipment including CMM Zeiss, Calypso software, 3D scanning systems.
  • High competency and understanding of GD&T.
  • Proficiency in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and quality management tools, with demonstrated ability to apply methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Strong experience in supplier quality management, including auditing and working with suppliers to improve material quality and reduce non-conformance.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and work effectively with production, engineering, and customer-facing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to manage customer and supplier relationships and to lead teams effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification in quality management systems or Six Sigma (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies (e.g., CNC machining, additive manufacturing) is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and ensures compliance with Burloak Technologies’ Quality Management System (QMS), laboratory protocols, regulatory standards, and customer requirements, specifically related to AS9100D/ISO 9001:2015, ISO 17025, and other relevant quality certifications.
  • Manages Supplier Approval Program, quality inspection of all raw and finished materials in accordance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Collaborates with company teams while maintaining full autonomy to address compliance issues and deviations promptly, safeguarding customer interests.
  • Leads the development, implementation, and approval of quality plans, work instructions, inspections, internal audits, calibration, and Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) & Corrective Action Reporting (CAR) programs, serving as a key interface with customers.
  • Updates and modifies in-house systems and procedures to meet the requirements of external certification bodies.
  • Manages customer complaints, implements containment measures, performs root cause analyses, and oversees corrective and preventive actions.
  • Works closely with the management team to share ideas and supports continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing processes and ensuring alignment with company and customer quality standards.
  • Updates quality documentation and ensure the application of lessons learned from quality concerns in new customer contracts. Maintains systems and procedures to meet customer requirements and audit standards.
  • Establishes and refines quality standards, sign-off instructions, and documentation.
  • Reports on key quality metrics on a monthly basis.
  • Manages, coaches, and develops a high-performing Quality Operations team, ensuring they meet objectives, deliver best practices, and drive continuous improvements.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support optimal performance.
